Hopkins Acura of Fairfield Tire Center
Hopkins Acura Tire Center & Maintenance
Tires are the most ignored and underrated component of your vehicle. They are the only interface between your Acura and the road to provide traction to accelerate, steer, and stop. Hopkins Acura of Fairfield knows your vehicle best and will ensure it's equipped with the optimum choice of tire for your driving needs.
If you find a lower advertised price within 30 days of purchasing select tire brands, we will match the lower price!1
All-Season Tires
All-season tires are designed to provide traction and durability in a wide variety of seasonal road conditions. However, they cannot provide the same levels of traction in winter conditions as a proper winter tire.
Optimal Operating Range: Best suited for temperatures above 7°C (45°F).
Winter Tires
Winter tires stay flexible in temperatures below 7°C (45°F) to provide the necessary traction for cold weather driving conditions, reducing braking distance on cold, wet, icy, and snow-covered roads.
Traction from winter tires enhances Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Traction Control, and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®).
Safety Fact: Vehicles equipped with winter tires have approximately a 40% lower chance of collision in cold weather.
Extending the Life of Your Tires
Tire Pressure
Studies show that up to 70% of vehicles on the road have at least one under-inflated tire. Checking and maintaining proper tire pressure regularly helps extend tread life and reduce overall fuel consumption. Every time you check pressure, inspect your tires for damage, foreign objects, and unusual wear.
Tire Rotation
Your specific driving habits and vehicle usage directly influence the rate and pattern of tread wear. Periodic inspection and rotation of tires is a critical component of normal vehicle maintenance to maximize tire longevity and maintain even wear distribution.
Wheel Alignment
Wheel misalignment increases rolling resistance, requiring additional engine power and increasing fuel consumption by up to 25%. Proper alignment ensures your Acura travels smoothly while preserving fuel efficiency and tire life.
Wheel Balancing
Proper wheel balance prevents premature wear on tires, steering, and suspension components while eliminating speed-related vibrations. Wheel balancing should always be performed when replacing tires or whenever a tire has been unmounted from the wheel.
Understanding Tire Wear Indicators
- Automobile and light truck tires manufactured for sale in North America feature wear indicators ("wear bars") molded into the tread at 2/32" depth—the minimum legal tread depth permitted on public roads. When tread wears level with these bars in two or more adjacent grooves, the tire must be replaced immediately.
- Some all-season tires feature a second wear indicator at 4/32" tread depth. When worn to this depth, performance in snow diminishes and the risk of hydroplaning in severe wet conditions increases.
- Winter tires may feature a second wear indicator at 6/32" tread depth, indicating when optimal snow traction is no longer effective.
